IUF has at their meeting April 3-4 drafted a motion about Brunei
The IUF Executive Committee, meeting in Geneva April 3-4, 2019:
CONDEMNS the introduction of legislation in Brunei punishing homosexual sex with death by stoning;
AFFIRMS ITS SOLIDARITY with workers and citizens of Brunei and around the world struggling for equality and an end to all forms of anti-LGBTI discrimination;
NOTES that the Dorchester Collection hotel chain is wholly owned by the government of Brunei’s Brunei Investment Agency;
CALLS ON IUF affiliates to urge their respective governments to formally protest to the government of Brunei the introduction of capital punishment for homosexual sex and call for its repeal;
CALLS ON IUF member organizations to demand, where applicable, that their national associations of hotel and hospitality employers exclude Dorchester Collection hotels pending the abrogation of this barbaric legislation;
REAFFIRMS its commitment to ensuring full respect for the human rights of LGBTI workers everywhere.
